Welcome to students, parents and other art instructors that visit this page. My hopes for this site are to show off artwork created by my students throughout the year, keep parents informed about what is taking place in the art department for the school year and to share art ideas with other art instructors who may be searching the net for project ideas.

Throughout the school year, art projects will be saved for an ART EXHIBIT to be held on APRIL 21st. from 8:30-3:30 at the High School. This exhibit will be held in conjunction with the Effingham Artisan Fair and the public schools exhibit at Effingham High School.

Here are some examples of student work.   MMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM

            How About Ancient Egypt?

Students will learn that most of what we know about ancient Egypt is due to the artwork and architecture that has been preserved through the centuries. They will learn about the Old Kingdom pyramids and the  burial of the pharaohs in the New Kingdom.

EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE

How about Ancient Greece and Rome?

Art students will be covering a unit on ancient Greece and Rome.  They will learn that ancient Greece is considered to be the 'birthplace of our Western Culture.'  The Greeks gave us the Olympic Games founded in 776 B.C., our ideal human body came from the Greeks, much of our language, and even our architectural styles with the Doric, ionic, and Corinthian columns came from the Greeks.

Students will compare ancient Roman art to early Greek art.  They will learn that the Greek style was very idealized while the Roman was realistic in comparison.  We will study the contributions of concrete and arches in building.  We will also study architecture such as Roman aqueducts and amphitheatres.  They will study about early Christian art and make a stained glass window.

How About the Middle Ages?

Art Appreciation students will be learning about the culture and beliefs of this period.  They will study the most famous art of the period which were the Illuminated Manuscripts created by the monks in the monasteries.

How About the Renaissance?

ART from the Grade School

Since I also teach at the grade school, I will also include some of the junior high art projects and 5th and 6th grade projects as soon as they are available.

The 8th. grade students are creating dragons with individual bodies, tails, wings, legs, arms and heads cut from stiff paper and colored with markers. The pieces will be joined together by fastners so that they move. Will have pictures as soon as we get some.

The 6th graders are starting with Sharpie pen  and drawing black butterflies on yellow paper.

The 5th. graders are also drawing butterflies but surrounding them with colorful line designs.

Projects will follow as soon as possible.

I would also like to share projects with other art teachers and some of my best and most successful art projects will follow as soon as time allows.
