Catholic Athletes for Christ (CAC) serves Catholic athletes in the practice of their faith and shares the Gospel in and through sports. CAC was formed in response to St. John Paul II’s call to evangelize the world of sports and his establishment of an office dedicated to Church and sports in 2004. In addition to professional athletes, CAC has expanded its program to the high school level, including in our Diocese of Springfield. The curriculum is based on Catholic sports principles and was designed in response to the request from bishops and school administrators across the country seeking an authentic Catholic sports program. CAC Chapters in the 7 Catholic high schools in the Diocese of Springfield in Illinois began in August of 2014, including St. Anthony High School.

Each Spring, the different classes spend time together in community and prayer on their class retreats. The R.E.A.P. team out of St. Louis puts on the retreat for the Freshmen and Sophomore retreats. A Theology of the Body retreat is given to the Juniors as well. The climax point of all the retreats comes senior year, when the girls and boys in the senior class attend a 3-day off campus retreat. The retreats focus on spirituality and community.

Students & Chaperones travel to Washington DC to take part in the annual March for Life in January, on the anniversary of legalized abortion in the US.

Totus Tuus (Totally Yours) is a fun and energetic parish based summer catechetical program for grade school, junior high, and high school youth. Led by the Diocese, Totus Tuus gathers college students and seminarians into teams of four and sends them out to spread the Good News of Jesus Christ in various parishes throughout the diocese. St. Anthony hosts a Totus Tuus team as they serve St. Anthony & Sacred Heart students for a week in June or July at our Grade School. Totus Tuus will be held in 2016 from June 26 - July 1. The Totus Tuus team puts on a program Sunday-Thursday from 7:30 PM - 9:30 PM for junior high and high school young adults. The grade school program for students entering grades 1-6 runs from Monday - Friday from 9:00 AM - 2:30 PM. The topic of discussion rotates each year between studying the Creed, Sacraments, Ten Commandments, Virtues and Beatitudes, Prayer, and the Mystery of Salvation. They also focus on a Mystery of the Rosary each year.
