Welcome to 7th Grade Literature!

       This year students will read various types of literary style. I hope to make each story very appealing to the students! In addition to the anthology, we will also read two novels. The novels are Touching Spirit Bear and I Have Lived a Thousand Years. 

        The students will be given tests over the stories that we read. They will be expected to know the vocabulary words and to be able to answer questions about the story in complete sentences. We will review the information about the story and then take a test. Depending on the length of the story, tests can be as quick as once a week or take as long as two weeks before a scheduled test.

        Students are given 10 minutes at the beginning of each class to read for Accelerated Reading. They are also given the entire class period once a week to read for the entire class period. The students will earn a grade for Accelerated Reading and this grade will be averaged with their Literature grade. I ask that you periodically check with your child to see what book is being read for AR. Thank you for your support! The point value is as follows:

7 and below = B-

8-10 Points = B

11-13 Points = B+

14-15 Points = A-

16 Points = A

26 Points = A+
