Course Description:

        Welcome to English II.  This class is designed for you to further your mastery of the English language in terms      
  
     of literature and writing.  With this class, it is my hope that you discover the creativity within you and bring it out
        to the forefront through the various assignments and tasks English II provides.

         In this course, we will be reading four major works from the literary canon in addition to several smaller works. 
       
All of these works are widely different in
terms of storytelling, but as you will come to discover, they will are
        share various themes and ideas.

Semester One
                    Short Stories and Literary Terms

Semester Two
                       
A Separate Peace by John Knowles
                       
Lord of the Flies by William Golding
  
                     Julius Caesar by William Shakespeare
                       
Drama

                Also, we will be having monthly writing assignments.  You will have approximately two weeks to write a
                short paper, followed by another two weeks to revise it.

 Assessment/Grading: 

Various methods of assessment will be included throughout the year.  These methods include homework, writing assignments, periodic quizzes, and a project and test at the end of each unit. 

Note: You are responsible for getting any assignments you may have missed because of absence.  You will have the same amount of days you were gone to get any assignments finished (ex. If you were absent for two days, you’ll have two days to finish any work).  

Academic Integrity:

Academic dishonesty will not be tolerated.  Students subject to academic dishonesty will receive a zero on the assignment and will be referred to the administration.  

Student Accommodations: 

Students with special needs will receive the necessary accommodations.  Students needing additional assistance may seek tutoring at a mutually convenient time.
