The Sacrament of Baptism

Baptisms are celebrated on Saturday evenings after the 5:30 p.m. Mass and on Sunday mornings following the 11:00 a.m.  Other days and times may be arranged, if necessary, with one of the priests or with the deacon.

Prior to the baptism of their child, parents must attend a Baptism Class.  This class is held on the first Monday of each month at 7:00 p.m.  Godparents are also strongly encouraged to attend this class.

The Sacrament of Confirmation

Preparation for the Sacrament of Confirmation is held during the eighth grade year at St. Anthony Grade School or during the seventh and eighth grade years of the Parish School of Religion.

The date and time of the celebration of the Sacrament is dependent upon the schedule of the Diocesan Bishop.

The Sacrament of the Eucharist

The Holy Sacrifice of the Mass is celebrated every day at St. Anthony of Padua Parish, with the exception of a few days throughout the year, which are always noted in advance in the parish bulletin.

The daily and weekly Mass schedule is as follows:

 

Daily: 6:30 a.m. Monday - Saturday

            8:30 a.m. Monday - Friday

Saturday: 5:30 p.m.

Sunday: 7:30 a.m., 9:15 a.m, and 11:00 a.m.

Eve of Holy Days: 5:30 p.m.

Holy Days: 12:10 p.m., 5:30 p.m.

                      (6:30 p.m. if on               

                      Wednesday)

First Holy Communion is usually celebrated the fourth Sunday of April for those in the second grade.  Please contact Sr. Alicia Drone, A.S.C at (217) 347-7129 for more information.

The Sacrament of Penance

The Sacrament of Penance (also called Reconciliation or Confession) is celebrated each Saturday afternoon 3:30 p.m. - 4:30 p.m.  It is also celebrated on the Eve of the First Friday of each month from 4:00 p.m. - 5:00 p.m.

Penance Services with individual confessions are celebrated during the seasons of Advent and Lent and are publicized through the parish bulletin.

A penitent may also schedule a time for confession by anonymously contacting one of the priests and asking him to be in the confessional at a certain time on a certain day.

First Reconciliation is celebrated with those students in the second grade prior to their first reception of Holy Communion.  For more information about First Reconciliation contact Sr. Alicia Drone, A.S.C. at (217) 347-7129.

The Sacrament of Matrimony

Couples wishing to enter the Sacrament of Marriage at St. Anthony of Padua parish should contact one of the priests not less than six months prior to the intended date.

Weddings are typically celebrated at 2:00 p.m. on Saturdays with rehearsals on Fridays at 6:00 p.m., though other arrangements may be made.  No wedding may begin after 2:00 p.m.

All couples wishing to marry at St. Anthony's must attend either a Marriage Encounter weekend or a Pre-Cana Conference.  Please contact the parish secretary to register for either of these.

The Sacrament of the Anointing of the Sick

If you or a friend or relative is in need of the Sacrament of the Anointing of the Sick please contact one of the priests who will come and administer the anointing.  No time is a bad time to call a priest to ask to be anointed.

Please remember that unless you contact us or specifically ask the hospital to contact us we have no way of knowing that you are in the hospital.

The Anointing of the Sick is also celebrated twice each year during Mass, once in Advent and once in Lent.  Please watch the parish bulletin for more information of these two Masses.
