Renovation of St. Anthony of Padua Church, Effingham, IL

The Main Altar

St. Anthony of Padua Parish started the renovation project in Spring 1996 raising funding for the work to

be done on the church.  With a very successful fundraiser, the parish family pulled together finding

enough money to start the actual renovation process in October of 1996.  The plan estimated an eight

month time period until the end of the renovation in which the parish family celebrated the Eucharist

across the street from the church in Goff Gym.  Even though this was a big sacrifice for everyone, it was

well worth the time and trouble seeing the outcome of our newly renovated hurch.  The first celebration

in the new church was held on May 17, 1997 with the 5:30 Saturday evening mass.  The rededication

mass will be held on the Feast of St. Anthony of Padua on Friday, June 13, 1997 at 6:30 with The Most

Reverend Daniel Ryan, Bishop of Springfield Diocese in Illinois, presiding.
