Our Dream Vacation
Our project for this semester will be
planning a vacation. You will be
divided into groups of 3 or 4. Your
group will have the following tasks to perform as you work on your presentation.
Destination
Decide
where you want to go on vacation as a group.
You will be traveling with your friends (via the Internet).
The final destination must be at least 750 miles from Effingham.
You must travel by car. Your trip will only last ten days.
Vehicle
Since you
must travel by car, your group must decide on what type of car you want to use.
It must be a vehicle that will hold all of you and your luggage.
You will need to find a picture of the vehicle for your presentation.
Each
vehicle will hold 15 gallons of gasoline and get 20 miles to the gallon. You
will need to figure the cost of gas into your final budget paper.
Hotels
You must
choose your hotels. You will need
to stay overnight on your way to your destination and on your way home, plus the
hotel at your destination. You may
choose any hotel you wish, since this is an Internet trip. Each night in a hotel will cost you $50 per person.
Restaurants.
You must
also find restaurants for your trip there and while you are at the
destination. You will each eat 3
meals a day. Your breakfast meal
will cost $5. Your lunch will cost $8 and your dinner will cost $10.
These prices are per person.
Activities
You will
need to choose the activities you will do while you are at your destination.
These can include any appropriate activities.
Some people might like to go to an amusement park, skiing, attending a
sporting event, shopping, etc. You
will need to know the price of each activity to figure into your budget.
Spending Money
Each
person in the group will have $1200 to use for the trip.
Each person will fill in a ledger to show where the money was spent and
the total. Do not spend more than
you have.
Your group should try to spend as close to the amount as possible without
going over.
Evaluation
Your
group will be evaluated by using a rubric. I will give you a copy of it
ahead so you can see what requirements you will be rated on. This project
is worth 100 points.
